After which comes “The Diamond Sea” which is probably the most Sonic Youth song you can think about, and not simply because it’s 20 minutes long and largely guitar noise. A lot of the quarter-hour it discards are comprised of the band taking a long exhale, noise changed with the suggestion of noise, the unstructured notes sounding as delicate as windchimes.
